About The School Companion
The School Companion exists to help parents make sense of publicly available school information, without needing specialist knowledge of education data or jargon.
Our mission
Choosing a school is one of the more significant decisions a parent makes, but the information needed to make that decision is often scattered across multiple official sources, written in technical language, or hard to compare side by side.
We bring that information together in one place, explained in plain English, so parents can compare schools more easily and ask better-informed questions.
What we believe
- Transparency: parents deserve clear, honest information about how schools operate.
- Accessibility: that information should be easy to find and easy to understand, regardless of background.
- Informed choice: our role is to help parents make their own informed decisions, not to tell them which school is "best".
Where we are today
This is an early version of the site, currently covering Havering in most depth, with features such as Parent Score still in development. Every area of England is included in School Search, with richer local data added area by area over time.
