How it works
- Find your child's school Search for it on The School Companion and go to its profile page.
- Leave an honest review Rate the school on teaching, behaviour, openness, and more. Good or bad — we want the truth, not five stars for the sake of it.
- Confirm your email We'll send you a confirmation link. Once you click it, you're in the draw.
- Cross your fingers When we hit 2,000 reviews, we pick one reviewer at random. The winner chooses £100 of books, and we deliver them to their school.

Common questions
- Does my review have to be positive?
- Absolutely not. We want honest reviews. A thoughtful two-star review is worth more to other parents than a hollow five-star one, and it counts exactly the same in the draw.
- Can I review more than one school?
- Yes — if you have children at different schools, each confirmed review counts as a separate entry.
- What counts as a review?
- A review submitted through The School Companion that has been confirmed via the email link. Reviews that are blank, abusive, or clearly not genuine will be removed and won't count.
- Who picks the books?
- The winning parent does. We'll ask you for a list of titles (up to £100) and send them to your child's school.
- When does the draw happen?
- As soon as we reach 2,000 confirmed reviews, or on 31 July 2027 — whichever comes first. If the target isn't reached by then, we'll draw from however many reviews we have.
- How is the winner chosen?
- By random selection. Every confirmed review has an equal chance, regardless of the rating given or the school reviewed.
Terms and conditions
- The promoter is The School Companion (theschoolcompanion.org).
- The prize is £100 worth of books, chosen by the winner and delivered to their child's school. There is no cash alternative.
- Entry is free. No purchase is necessary.
- To enter, a parent or carer must submit a review of a school listed on The School Companion and confirm it via the email link provided. Each confirmed review counts as one entry.
- A single person may enter more than once by reviewing different schools (one entry per school). Duplicate reviews of the same school do not count as additional entries.
- Reviews must be genuine, written by a current or recent parent or carer of a pupil at the school, and must meet The School Companion's review guidelines. Reviews that are blank, abusive, defamatory, or clearly not genuine will be removed and will not count as entries.
- The draw will take place when 2,000 confirmed reviews have been received, or on 31 July 2027, whichever is sooner. If fewer than 2,000 reviews have been received by 31 July 2027, the draw will proceed with however many confirmed reviews exist at that date.
- The winner will be selected at random from all confirmed entries and contacted by email within 14 days of the draw.
- If the winner does not respond within 28 days of being contacted, a new winner will be drawn.
- The winner's first name, borough, and school name may be published on The School Companion. No other personal details will be shared.
- Entry is open to UK residents aged 18 or over.
- Employees and immediate family of The School Companion are not eligible.
- By entering, participants agree to these terms and to The School Companion's privacy policy.
- The promoter reserves the right to amend these terms if circumstances outside its control make it necessary, and will publish any changes on this page.
- These terms are governed by English law.
